State championship - june 1/2, 2019 - 3rd out of 31
HaiFive15 traveled to Grand Rapids, MI for their final tournament of the season. Putting together all that they have learned from the season, the girls played their best game. Finishing 3rd (Gold) out of 31 teams. Everyone on the team stepped up and played their best games of the season, making coach Bre, especially proud of how they performed.
There are no magic potion that can make a player better. It’s good old fashion hard work. As the season wore on, the girls began to understand what it takes to be a good team. Hard work, perseverance and team work. And that they took with them to the State Championship and made us all proud. Good luck to all with your upcoming high school season!
UM Dearborn - May 18, 2019 - 1st Gold
The girls took to UM Dearborn for a single day tournament. The girls dug hard in this tournament, as they had to play up against 16u teams. Sweeping the competition in pool play, the girls entered the gold bracket against all 16u teams. Not backing down and fighting hard, the girls finished off the competition and took 1st in Gold. Am very proud of the girls as they are beginning to understand how to play as a team. Everyone on the team is needed to succeed. Great job ladies!
Can-AM - May 11/12, 2019 - 5th out of 24
HaiFive15 took to the courts at the Cobo Center for the Can Am championship. Putting what they learned to work, the girls finished the tournament 5th out of 24 teams. The also finished 1st out of 24 teams in point percentage. Showing that they are very efficient at finishing things off when they can. Fantastic finish ladies. Keep it up!
May 5, 2019 - battle creek - 1st silver
Another single day tournament for the team to work on their skills before the big Can-Am in Detroit. The girls continue to make progress working as a team and learning how to play volleyball with more attitude. With this new found skill, the ladies took 1st place in silver at the Battle Creek tournament. Great work ladies. Now take that momentum to the Can-Am tournament and go the distance.
April 28, 2019 - UM Dearborn - 3rd in gold
The girls took to the court for a one day event to continue to work on their skills at the UM Dearborn tournament. The girls made it to the Gold semis, but fell short in a very hard fought battle. Losing 16-18 in the Gold semis. So close ladies. Next time!
April 13/14, 2019 - motor city - 1st copper
HaiFive15 took to the Motor City looking to improve their game at this two day event. It’s never an easy path at these two day events. Everyone has to be on their best to get to the top. At the end of the event, HaiFive15 finished 1st in the copper bracket. Great work to the girls. Keep working at it ladies! It’s one small step to the next bigger one.
April 6, 2019 - Michigan elite - 2nd gold
The girls traveled to Michigan Elite after coming back from Spring Break to get their game back into gear. The focus this time was to want to play and be the best on the court, and not play just to play. Volleyball is not just learning how to pass, set and spike. But the growth also needs to be in the mind. Pushing oneself mentally is as important or even more than learning how to do a physical skill. With that in mind, the girls came out fighting and finished the day 2nd in Gold. Great start after coming back from Spring Break. The learning continues at Motor City Madness next weekend.
march 17, 2019 - chaos volleyball - 2nd Silver
HaiFive15 traveled to Chaos Volleyball for a one day tournament. The girls played well in pool play against a couple of older 16s team and ended up in the Silver bracket. In bracket play, the girls played hard making all the way to the Silver finals. Again, facing a more experience 16s team, the girls pressed hard, but failed in the bid for the win. Taking 2nd in Silver against a handful of older 16s team is something to take pride in. Good job ladies!
Great Lakes festival - March 9/10, 2019
The ladies took a trip to the 2-day Great Lakes Festival. Fighting hard the first day, the girls were placed in the bronze bracket play. Working hard the 2nd day of play, the girls made it to the Bronze finals. It was close til the end. Unable to finish the opponent off, the girls ended 2nd place in Bronze. It was a hard lesson to learn to give it up at the end, but it’s a lesson that needed to be learned. HaiFive15 will be stronger mentally after this tournament. Always learning, always growing. February 25, 2019 - UM Dearborn - 2nd Gold
The girls traveled to UM Dearborn for a one day tournament. Mixing up with the 16s, our HaiFive15 took their skills to the court and ended up in the Gold Finals. Fighting hard, the ladies finished runner-up in the Gold finals to a good 16U team. One step at a time. The girls took their steps in the right direction. Fighting off teams all day to end 2nd in Gold. Good job ladies!
Presidents day - Feb 16/17, 2019 - Staying Strong
HaiFive15 took to the court in their first 2-day tournament of the season. Finishing 19th out of 31 teams, the girls showed they have the fight in them to climb the ladder. Never giving up on the first day, the girls going to three sets in all three matches. Taking two and losing out on the third match, all close games. In the second day of play the girls fought hard but lost to the eventual champ. Overall, a great learning lesson as the girls take what they learned back to the practice court and continue to hone their skills.
