State Championship - June 1/2, 2019 - 2nd out of 33

The team traveled to Grand Rapids for the end of season State Championship. Battling with two ankle sprains and without the team’s top offensive player, the girls pulled together to battle it out for the weekend. Playing the HaiFive way, never giving up and stepping up their game, the girls ended the tournament falling short in the Gold finals. Finishing 2nd out of 33 teams. The girls showed hard work, perseverance and teamwork, as they did not use injuries or a limited roster as an excuse. They fought until the very end.

I am very proud of this group of players, performing the way they did all season. Great work ladies. And good luck with your high school season!

CAN-AM - May 11/12, 2019 - 3rd out of 36

Another Can Am tournament in the books for HaiFive17. Everyone on the team came together and stepped up their game as the team played shorthanded with a player not at full strength, and a player on the injured list. Not giving in to any excuses the girls fought hard and finished pool play undefeated, ending with 1st seed.

As Bracket play gets underway, still not at full strength, the girls pulled deep into their motto of hard work, perseverance and team work. They pushed all the way to the third round for a spot in the semis. But it was a long hill to climb as the team ran out of gas and fell to the eventual champion.

As the day ended, HaiFive17 finished 3rd out of 36 teams overall, and finished 1st out of 36 teams in point percentage. I am very proud of all the girls for coming together and working hard to step up their games as the team was not at full strength. That is fantastic, considering we are not a very tall team, but we have very big hearts!

Mt. Morris - April 6, 2019 - 1st Place Gold

The ladies traveled to Mt. Morris once more to hone their skills in a 17/18 tournament. The tournament featured a handful of good 18 teams. Coming back after Spring Break is not an easy task, to go up against competitive 18 teams. But the girls managed to get their game back into gear, and finish with 1st place in gold. Back on the court and prepping for Motor City Madness.

The ladies went to Motor City 2-day tournament looking for their first major win. Fighting hard all weekend, the team fell short a few points from reaching their goal. Losing 13-15 to the eventual winner of the Gold bracket, and finishing 5th out of 40 teams. A very successful run still. Great job ladies!

Mt. Morris - March 23, 2019 - 1st Place

The ladies took to the court this weekend and took home 1st place. The team was a bit short handed, missing a couple of players from the team. Given the opportunities, players stepped up and relished in the new roles they were given. Not missing a beat, the girls went 10-0 for the day. Great work ladies!

Great Lakes festival - 2nd gold - March 9/10, 2019

HaiFive17 took to the court at the Great Lakes Festival and ended taking 2nd in the Gold Blue Division. The first day of play, the ladies fought hard and ended 2nd out of 16 in first day of play. In bracket play, the hard work begins as the team fought hard the first two matches to reach the final. Giving it all in the semis with a come from behind win, the ladies then fell short in the finals to a good volleyball team from club Passion. Overall, a job well done.

Presidents day - 5th out of 25 in Gold - Feb 16/17, 2019

The ladies took to the court on President’s Day for their first 2-day tournament. The team ended pool play on the first day with a 1st seed overall in the tournament. As the second day roll around, the team was given a bye for being 1st seed. The semis matched the girls up with the eventual winner. Fighting hard, the ladies fell in three sets to the overall winner of the 17s Gold division. The ladies then took what they learned with the semis lost into the consolation match against a very good Dunes team from Indiana. Never looking back, the ladies finished the tournament off with a win against Dunes Volleyball, ending the weekend 5th out of 25 teams in gold. A very good start overall.
